ABOUT THE ROLE
The primary purpose of a Disrepair Surveyor is to support the assessment, diagnosis, and resolution of various disrepair issues within residential properties. This role involves assisting in comprehensive inspections to identify defects and maintenance needs, evaluating the condition of buildings, and contributing to recommendations for appropriate remedial actions to ensure properties remain safe, functional, and compliant with housing standards.
The surveyor will work closely with the lead disrepair surveyor, repair teams, residents, contractors, and housing management to facilitate effective resolutions of disrepair matters while promoting a safe and healthy living environment. This includes providing support in building maintenance assessments, evaluating the quality of repair work, and assisting in implementing best practices for property upkeep and management.
ABOUT YOU
The successful candidate will:
• Have experience in conducting disrepair assessments and can assist in developing effective remediation strategies.
• Be able to support the surveying process, ensuring compliance with building regulations and health and safety standards.
• Be capable of collaborating with various stakeholders, including property owners, tenants, and maintenance teams, to help address disrepair issues effectively.
• Possess knowledge of relevant housing laws and can assist in analyzing and reporting on survey findings and trends.
• Be committed to upholding the reputation of the surveying team while helping to educate residents about property maintenance and disrepair prevention.
• Be eager to participate in training initiatives within the team focused on identifying and managing disrepair issues.
• Be enthusiastic about continuous learning and improvement within the disrepair surveying team at Stevenage Borough Council.
