ABOUT THE ROLE
We are inviting applicants to apply for the role of Enterprise Architect within Shared IT Service. This is a pivotal role for someone who wants to influence technology at an organisational level, connect strategy to delivery, and help drive meaningful technological transformation that supports council operations.
As Enterprise Architect, you will take a lead role in defining, developing, and maintaining the Council’s enterprise architecture. You’ll ensure our systems, platforms, and data are aligned with business priorities, resilient to change, and fit for the future.
This role sits at the heart of strategic decision-making. You’ll work closely with senior leaders, technical teams, suppliers, and partners to translate business goals into coherent, sustainable IT solutions.
In this role, you will:
• Lead the development and ongoing evolution of the Council’s enterprise architecture and technology roadmaps.
• Design and maintain architecture models covering IT infrastructure, applications, and data.
• Ensure integration and interoperability across systems and services.
• Evaluate and recommend emerging technologies to support service improvement and transformation.
• Set and champion IT standards, governance, and architectural principles.
• Provide expert guidance to IT teams and project groups to ensure alignment with architecture and governance.
• Play a key role in multi disciplinary projects, including technical design, tender support, evaluations, and benefits realisation.
• Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non technical audiences, including senior management and members
• Support a culture of continuous improvement, learning, and professional development across IT
ABOUT YOU
This opportunity is ideal for someone who already understands the Council environment and wants to operate at a strategic level in the IT space.
You’ll bring:
• Strong experience in enterprise architecture or a closely related field
• A proven ability to align business objectives with IT strategy
• Confidence working with architecture frameworks, methodologies, and tools (e.g TOGAF)
• Experience of IT governance, risk management, and standards
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across teams
• A proactive, adaptable mindset and a passion for improving services through technology.
Relevant qualifications or equivalent experience (such as degree level knowledge, ITIL, or project delivery experience) will support your application.
