Through the approval of the Co-operative Commercial and Insourcing Strategy, Stevenage Borough Council have committed to implementing business process improvements, seeking new sustainable revenue streams, exploring insourcing opportunities and developing a commercial culture.

Our commercial team is expanding and as Commercial Projects and Promotions Officer you will be welcomed into this new role by the Corporate Commercial Officer and the Head of Commercial. You will help to deliver the commercialisation strategy and associated work programme to support the council’s corporate and financial objectives.

The Commercial Projects and Promotions Officer will implement a full range of activities aimed at developing service offers and pricing and promoting Council services to external audiences. You will be responsible for identifying new sales and marketing initiatives for income generating services and monitoring the success of campaigns. As part of this role you will be required to attend networking events on behalf of the Council in order to promote Council services and locations and will work with service departments to ensure a seamless ‘Stevenage Council’ brand.

In the capacity of Projects and Promotions Officer, you will also be required to assist with the development of a commercial culture across the organisation. This will include carrying out training needs analysis and designing and delivering internal commercial communications and training in order to upskill the workforce. You will also have responsibility for managing and overseeing the existing advertising and sponsorship contract and will fulfil the commercial liaison role for filming enquiries.

The ideal candidate will have experience of in a relevant commercial, marketing or engagement role and a track record in business-to-business marketing and/or launching new products and commercial services. They will be able to effectively lead project teams and will be highly skilled in presenting and influencing.
