LOCATION: Stevenage/Hybrid

ABOUT THE ROLE
We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and resilient professional to join our Housing Supply Team in a specialist post dedicated to the delivery of the Accommodation for Ex-Offenders (AFEO) programme. The Housing Supply Coordinator will work specifically with adults with a history of offending who are homeless, at risk of homelessness or rough sleeping and need support to access the private rented sector. This includes eligible prison leavers and people moving on from probation, approved premises or other criminal justice accommodation who are ready to manage a tenancy but face barriers to securing a suitable home. By helping this cohort move into settled accommodation, the role will contribute to preventing homelessness and rough sleeping, supporting successful resettlement and reducing the risk of reoffending.

You will manage referrals and a dedicated AFEO caseload, assess eligibility, housing need, affordability, risk and tenancy readiness, and agree tailored plans with each customer. Working closely with prisons, the Probation Service, homelessness services, landlords, letting agents and other partners, you will identify suitable private rented homes, build effective move-on pathways and negotiate practical solutions such as deposits, rent in advance or landlord incentives where available. You will provide focused pre-tenancy and tenancy-sustainment support, including help with benefits, income maximisation, budgeting, debt, property searches and resolving landlord or tenancy issues. You will maintain accurate case, expenditure and outcome records and deliver the service using a trauma-informed, strengths-based and non-judgemental approach.
A DBS check and a Values Based Interview will be carried out for this post.

ABOUT YOU
The successful candidate will have:
• Experience of working with people who have an offending history, are leaving custody or face multiple barriers to securing and sustaining accommodation, or the ability to apply relevant housing experience to this cohort.
• Knowledge of homelessness prevention, the private rented sector and the housing challenges experienced by prison leavers and people involved with the criminal justice system.
• The ability to manage an AFEO caseload, assess housing needs and tenancy readiness, manage expectations and support customers to take practical steps towards securing and sustaining a home.
• Effective communication, engagement and negotiation skills, with the confidence to build constructive relationships with customers, landlords, letting agents, prisons, probation services and other partner agencies.
• A resilient, flexible and non-judgemental approach, with the ability to work independently, manage risk appropriately, attend multi-agency meetings and contribute to duty cover.
