ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking an organised, committed, and enthusiastic individual for the position of Licensing Officer. The postholder will form an integral part of a small and committed licensing team within the Council’s Environmental Health and Licensing Service.

The Licensing team deliver statutory functions in enabling businesses to apply for licences following statutory procedures and in taking enforcement action in respect of unlicensed premises and non-compliant operators. Areas of licensing include the sale of alcohol and public entertainment, gambling premises, street trading, taxi licensing, animal welfare licensing and pavement licensing.

ABOUT YOU

The successful candidate will ideally have experience and knowledge in some aspects of licensing with previous experience in enforcement work. You must possess excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively, so as to create and sustain effective relationships with a range of stakeholders including members of the public, businesses, elected members, senior managers and external partners. You must have a flexible approach to teamwork and must have the ability to work under pressure, to manage and prioritise a high workload and have a positive attitude towards contributing to the smooth running of the Council’s Licensing Service.
