ABOUT THE ROLE
We are looking for a full-time Environmental Health Officer to join our busy Residential team. You will be a key player in a high-profile multi-disciplinary business unit delivering the full range of environmental health functions across the Borough. The work of this post will be varied and cover private sector housing standards, HMO licensing, empty homes, noise and other nuisance relating to residential premises and pest control. You will be involved in collating and presenting concise reports and recommendations to officers, senior management and members, interpreting and applying relevant legislation and guidance and undertaking investigations or enforcement as appropriate. Experience of using Idox-Uniform database software is desirable.
This is an exciting time for Stevenage Borough Council; its ambitious growth plans are being realised and a comprehensive town centre regeneration scheme is well underway which is delivering on the ‘Future Town, Future Council’ strategic vision.
ABOUT YOU
The successful candidate will:
• be a qualified Environmental Health Practitioner registered with EHRB or the CIEH.
• ideally have experience of using Idox-Uniform database software
• have knowledge and experience of preparing statutory notices, gathering and handling evidence be able to work effectively with all categories of stakeholder
• be organised, accurate and flexible with strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work on their initiative.
• be adaptable, with an eye for detail and capable of working under pressure.
• be available to carry out duties at flexible times including occasional evenings, weekends and public holidays
