ABOUT THE ROLE
As a Specialist Support Officer (floating) you will be working across all areas of our Specialist Support service.
This includes our extra care/independent living housing schemes supporting residents to maintain their independence for as long as possible. You will have day to day management of the scheme you are working in and carry out housing management duties including health and safety checks, fire checks, raising communal repair works.
You will also be supporting our general needs tenants to sustain their tenancies liaising with agencies/families/other SBC departments.
You will be working with a diverse group of people which includes those with complex needs both within the schemes and in the community.
You will assess applicants for suitability to move into our schemes, onto our Car Connect 24/67 service, general needs accommodation and on an ongoing basis to identify support needs through support planning processes.
You need to be flexible as you will be required to respond to emergency calls to residents in our independent living/extra care schemes and on our Care Connect 24/7 service in the community. It is essential that you have use of a vehicle which has business insurance cover in order for you to be able to carry out your duties. A mileage allowance will be payable.

The successful candidate will have:
• excellent communication skills at all levels
• a flexible outlook and attitude to working in a customer focussed team.
• good knowledge and understanding of services for older and/or disabled people and their needs, demonstrating a high level of sensitivity.
• a dynamic, pro-active and creative approach
• good organisational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
• experience in managing complex cases and problem solving
• be able to work on their own initiative and have excellent attention to detail.
• excellent record keeping and computer skills (competent in using Microsoft Office IT packages including Excel)
