ABOUT THE ROLE
This is an exciting time to work for Stevenage Borough Council and you will play a key role in helping us make Stevenage Even Better. This is a fantastic opportunity for you to work at the heart of the Council, engage with all service areas, and really develop your skills, experience and understanding.
You will support the ongoing development of the council’s new Corporate Plan, helping to ensure that the council shapes and delivers its overarching strategic priorities. Working closely with senior managers across the council including the Chief Executive and Strategic Directors, you will lead and support the development of key policies and projects in response to new and emerging priorities for the Council.
You will research and share best practice from elsewhere, analyse and interpret data, and produce written and verbal briefings for internal and external stakeholders to inform strategic decision-making. You will provide policy and research support, advice and expertise to business units across the council and will build strong, influential relationships with internal colleagues at all levels and with external partners.
ABOUT YOU
You will have the ability to build strong rapport and relationships at all levels within the organisation, with strong negotiating and influencing skills. You will be able to bring together information from a range of sources and provide analysis and recommendations and be able to communicate these verbally and in writing. You will have experience managing and developing processes, explaining them to others, and supporting people in following them.
You will have a keen interest in local and national policy, be willing to learn, keen to develop and progress, and interested in knowing more about how the council works. You will be focused on outcomes for our residents, and the importance of constantly seeking ways to improve the services we provide.
