ABOUT THE ROLE

At Stevenage Borough Council we are committed to maintaining the highest standards of safety and compliance across our properties. As an Asbestos Surveyor with us, you'll be at the forefront of ensuring the well-being of our community by identifying and managing asbestos hazards.

The Asbestos Surveyor is responsible for conducting thorough asbestos assessments, audits, surveys, and inspections in accordance with relevant regulations and guidelines. The role involves identifying asbestos-containing materials within the council’s portfolio of properties, assessing risks, providing recommendations, and organising and overseeing the safe execution of asbestos removal and encapsulation. The role is also responsible for conducting asbestos audits and reporting on findings to ensure ongoing compliance.

The role provides expert advice and guidance to internal colleagues, stakeholders, external contractors, and regulatory authorities on asbestos-related matters, ensuring compliance with asbestos regulations and duties.

ABOUT YOU

We are looking for candidates with demonstrable experience in asbestos surveying and bulk sampling. You will have the ability to organise and oversee asbestos remedial works, from inception to completion with keen attention to detail and analytical thinking ensuring accuracy and compliance every step of the way.


The successful candidate will have:
• BHOS P405 qualification.
• Deep understanding of current asbestos legislation, including the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012.
• RSPH Level 3 Certificate in Asbestos Surveying.
• BOHS P402 Certificate or BOHS P403 and P404 certificates or equivalent.
