ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for a full-time Senior Environmental Health Technical Officer to join our dedicated team of officers within the Council’s Environmental Health and Licensing service. The service delivers the full range of environmental health and licensing functions across the Borough.

As an experienced Senior Technical officer, you will play a key role within the Council’s Residential team, in the delivery of an effective and professional service to Stevenage residents. The work of these posts will be varied and will include investigating complaints of noise and other statutory nuisances relating to residential premises, the use of statutory powers relating to public health protection and pest control, the enforcement of private sector housing standards including the regulation of HMOs and taking action to bring empty homes back into use.

This role will involve hybrid working, with part of your time being office-based in addition to working from home.

ABOUT YOU

You will hold a degree or equivalent qualification in environmental health or a related subject, e.g. a degree in a relevant science subject. In addition, you will have experience of undertaking inspections, preparing statutory notices and enforcing relevant legislation in the field of environmental health. You will be able to effectively apply your knowledge and draw on your experience to support the work of the Environmental Health Officers on the team. You will also be able to work on your own initiative to manage a caseload of complaint investigations.
