ABOUT THE ROLE

As a specialist Support Officer with ‘Tenancy Sustainment’ as your specialism you will be supporting service users living in our general needs accommodation in the community to sustain their tenancies through advice and support. Developing a high level of personal contact with tenants to maximise engagement.

You will be working with a diverse group of people which includes those with complex needs such as drugs, alcohol and mental health including hoarding.

You will assess applicants for moving on from supported accommodation and care leavers applying to move into our general needs accommodation. You will be assisting with benefit claims, accessing employment, working with other teams and agencies in supporting your clients to sustain their accommodation.

You need to be flexible as you will be required to support the wider Specialist Support Services Team responding to emergency calls to residents in our independent living/extra care schemes and on our careline service in the community.

It is essential that you have use of a vehicle which has business insurance cover to enable you to carry out your duties. A mileage allowance will be payable.

The successful candidate will have:
• excellent communication skills at all levels

• good knowledge and understanding of services available to support a wide range of service user’s needs, demonstrating a high level of sensitivity and compassion.
• a dynamic, pro-active and creative approach
• good organisational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
• experience in managing complex cases and problem solving.
• be able to work on their own initiative and have excellent attention to detail.
• excellent record keeping and computer skills (competent in using Microsoft Office IT packages including Excel)
